A Guide to a Perfect Fort Worth Saturday in Clearfork!

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

We are always interested to hear how others enjoy their weekends at Clearfork. This week we sat down with Martha Motheral, a busy mother of 3, to talk about family time, fashion, and her hometown favorites. From her casual chic Fort Worth style to her love of supporting locals, we got a view of how she and her family spend weekends at Clearfork.

How long have you lived in Fort Worth?

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, but took a little hiatus for college and lived in NYC for 8 years. Paxton and I met at Heart of the Ranch 2 days after I moved home. We actually met before anything in Clearfork was built. A Charlie Robison concert was held to promote the beginning stages of Clearfork and a friend from high school invited me to the concert and introduced us. The rest is history!

Tell us a little bit about your family and why you chose to raise your kids in Fort Worth.

Paxton and I are both Fort Worth natives. We have 3 children. Margery is 5, Eleanor is 3, and little Paxton is 2. As a family we value faith, family time, and our friendships. Staying active and outdoors is also something that is important to us. We chose to raise our children in Fort Worth because it is home and both of our families are here. We love that our children can spend time with their grandparents and experience a similar childhood that we did. The previous generations have left a legacy that our children can be a part of and watch as they grow up.

What’s your go-to happy hour order at Press Cafe?

Hands down, the medi dip and Armenta’s margarita!

Favorite memory at Mellow Johnny’s?

My favorite memory at Mellow Johnny’s is definitely taking the kids to pick out their bikes. The guys at the shop are so sweet to them. Their bikes, bells, baskets, and helmets are all from Mellow Johnny’s. The children love being able to try out the bikes and ride around the shop. Paxton is also an avid rider so he enjoys going into the shop and also loves getting in on the truancy rides!

What are some of your favorite items at The Clearfork Farmers Market?

Trent at Icon Bread and Mockingbird Food Co. makes the BEST sourdough. He is always a friendly face to see and his soups are outstanding. We love the zucchini bread and fresh eggs at the Grammy's Sweets stand. We rarely make it home without polishing off a loaf of their delicious bread. Crunchy Girl Granola is also a fan favorite at our house.

How has The Clearfork Farmers Market become a part of your family traditions?

Going to The Clearfork Farmers Market is something we love to do year round. The kids get to run around, try the free yoga classes (when classes are available), and sample all of the delicious treats. We always stop into the bike shop to say hello and check out any new merchandise. It feels like patrons and vendors alike are all so happy to be there, it really is a great way to spend a Saturday morning.

Why is supporting The Clearfork Farmers Market important to you?

Supporting the Farmers Market is important to me because it helps local farms and small businesses in our community. I think it is important for my children to put a name and face behind the products that we buy. They know that the person selling the cucumbers and watermelon worked hard to bring the produce to market.

What does being outside and staying active mean to you and your family?

As a family, we stay very active and love the outdoors. My husband and I were both raised to appreciate the fresh air and God given resources. Everyone is in a better mood after time spent outside. The Trailhead brings it all together and offers it conveniently in one place.

What makes The Trailhead special to you?

The Trailhead is special to me because it is part of our weekend ritual. It is something that we can do together as a family at the end of a busy week. I also appreciate the expanse of green space because it allows the children to run around and also see the plants and grasses that are native to the ranch.

We love your style! What are some of your favorite places to shop in Clearfork?

I have so many, but Monkee’s of Fort Worth, Double R, Luke’s Locker, Everything But Water, Climate, and Kate Spade are definitely at the top of the list.

How do you do a Date Night in Clearfork?

That’s a hard one because there are so many great choices. We usually start with a cocktail on the patio at Cru Food & Wine Bar. Cru has a great selection of light bites and flights of wine. After that, we often head over to Fixe Southern House for dinner. Their food and service are exceptional. Mesero is also a fun place for a double date.

Where does Paxton like to shop for his office clothes and weekend wear?

Paxton is a big fan of Q Clothier. Most of his shirts for work are from Q, as well as his suits and even his tuxedo. He loves Billy Reid and Climate for weekend attire.

Where does your family like to celebrate in Clearfork?

Rise is our go to for celebrations. The souffles are such a unique treat and we love their entire menu. It is where the girls always want to go for their birthdays! We also love B&B Butchers for our anniversary and other special occasions.

Martha’s Dress: Monkee’s of Fort Worth

Martha’s Shorts Look: Belt and Shirt from Double R

Paxton’s Looks: Rye51, Q Clothier, and Billy Reid.
