11 Ways to thrive while Social Distancing

Updated: Jul 23, 2020

Social distancing has brought a lot of changes to our everyday lives, but it hasn’t changed who we are as a Fort Worth community: creative, connected and strong. That’s why we’re bringing you 11 ways to make the most of your time social distancing, from at-home workouts to art ideas!

Treat Yourself to An At-Home Spa Day

Let’s be honest: We could all use a break from reality right now. Although hiding out at the spa isn’t an option, milk + honey has everything you need to take a step back, slip into the tub, and enjoy a little R&R. Find inspiration with #ArtOfTheBath tips, then order a combination of Muscle Soak, Arnica Balm, Body Brush, and Bath + Body Oil No. 18 for a self-spa treatment that will leave you feeling “ahhh”-mazing.

Redecorate Your Space

With “Stay at Home” orders in place, it’s prime time to make your home as cozy as can be. Spruce up your home office with chic furniture from Ballard Designs (don’t miss their coupons and online sales), or plan out a gallery wall with unique art from Sugarboo & Co. (currently offering 20% off everything and free shipping). Better yet, take advantage of Arhaus’ 15% off outdoor furniture sale and order a rocking chair for your patio. You’ll thank us later when you’re outside under the sun, rocking back and forth with a drink in hand! For even more retail therapy, check out our list of online Clearfork Stores.

Get Summer-Ready with Bar Method Workouts

The studio may be closed, but you can still join in the Bar Method’s full-body workouts virtually! Sign up for their livestream classes and spend time sweating it out instead of stressing out. You can even rent equipment for your at-home class!

Host a Virtual Happy Hour Hangout

Breaking news: Zoom meetings don’t have to be all about work. In fact, they’re a lot more fun when they include friends...and drinks! Clearfork Restaurants are offering to-go drinks with delicious deals, like 40% off retail wines from Cru, $20 cocktail kits from Doc B’s, and Margarita drink kits from Mesero. Up to 100 of your closest friends can join you on Zoom video call (for free!), so text your squad, plan a meeting time, and get ready for a fun-filled virtual happy hour!

Have a Picnic at Home

Spring in Texas means enjoying meals outside, social-distance style! Dust off your favorite picnic blanket, order to-go or delivery from one of Clearfork’s many drool-worthy restaurants, and soak in the sunshine during your next lunch or dinner.

Tap Into Your Inner Artist

Little ones can create masterpieces with Little Art Bus craft kits, available for delivery within the 76109 area or free porch pick up! For bigger kiddos (and adults!), print the Alana Kay Art Color Sheet from Clearfork’s At-Home Activities page or check out this list of fun ways to flex your creativity muscles, such as online photography sessions with Edgar Miller Images.

Bust a Move

You know what they say: When in doubt, dance it out! Push the living room furniture to the side and tune into Dance With Me’s live dance classes, streaming throughout the week. Thousands of people from across the world have joined in their past dance sessions, making every video like one big (virtual) living room dance party. Check out their Facebook for dates, times, and past livestream dance videos!

Stretch Your Legs Outside

Time outside can do wonders for curing cabin fever. Sunshine and fresh air are much needed after spending so much time [read: being trapped] indoors!! If you need a little motivation to get moving, you can order new sneakers from Luke’s Locker—They’re offering free shipping and free same-day delivery! Haven’t taken your bike out of the garage in a while? No worries! Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop is still open for curbside parts pick-up and service drop-off, just give them a call at 817-821-4780 to place your order or schedule a service appointment. You can also find more at-home workout ideas from our Community Fitness Partners here.

Cook a Delicious Meal

No need to nix your Clearfork Farmers Market favorites from your grocery list—Many of our local farmers are still selling items for pick-up or delivery! From eggs to bread and everything in between, here’s a list where you can find ingredients for your next cooking adventure (and support our local farmers!).

Learn Something New

Want to impress your friends at your first get-together after social distancing? Join TX Black Belt Academy’s free online training group and earn your black belt, or get a Fort Worth Library eCARD and read a new book (or two, or three!). You can also help your little one learn Spanish with Spanish Seeds Box, an educational program complete with vocabulary cards, creative games and online learning features. We even have several fun brain games to pass the time here, including Clearfork-themed crossword puzzles and word searches!

Explore Fort Worth from Afar

Social distancing has made us miss each other, and our city. Fortunately, our innovative friends have created ways for us to explore while keeping a safe distance! Take a virtual field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo with live Facebook videos, tune into magical performances on the Cliburn’s Facebook, admire art in the Kimbell’s online collection, or get arts and crafts ideas from the Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s new online series: Cooped Up with the Carter.
